Upper lake (Lake Vahrn)
A lake and biotope with history!
Upper lake (Lake Vahrn)
Lake Vahrner See (Obersee), which originally consisted of 2 lakes, is located a little north of Vahrn near Brixen and has been a popular destination for recreation-seeking guests for over 50 years. While the southern part of Lake Vahrn is part of a biotope, the northern part was popular as a bathing lake in summer.
In the summer of 2018, some war relics were found in the Vahrner See, which is why swimming in the lake has unfortunately had to be prohibited since then. The recovery of the relics is still ongoing, but we sincerely hope to be able to welcome you as a swimmer here at Lake Vahrn again soon!

Please note: Unfortunately, swimming in Lake Vahrn is currently not possible due to an ongoing recovery of war material. With tireless efforts, we are trying to enable our guests to swim in the lake again as soon as possible, and will keep you updated in any case!
